DIY: Hair Mask

Happy Easter everyone and welcome back to my blog. Today I would like to share with you one of my all time favorite hair mask on budget. Just go and have a look in your kitchen and I am sure that you already have all what you need at home.

Ingredients:

- Extra-virgin olive oil (if you have color-treated hair you can substitute for jojoba or almond oil)
- 2 eggs yolks
- Tablespoon of honey

First, add about three to four tablespoons of olive oil to a microwave safe dish and warm it for few seconds. Be extremely careful as the oil heats up quickly and you only want it to be lukewarm. Follow with 2 egg yolks and whisker them together with the oil. Egg yolk is a great source of protein and vitamins and it helps strengthen your hair. It also helps to keep homogeneous texture of the mask so its easier to apply. Lastly, add about a table spoon of honey, which is a natural antioxidant and it tends to stimulate a hair growth.

Mix all the ingredients together and rub your mask to dry hair but focus mainly on the ends. You can also apply a small amount to your roots, massaging your scalp in circular motions with your fingers which promotes blood supply to the skin as well as a hair growth. Once your hair is fully covered, wrap them in a plastic bathing cup and big towel. The towel creates warmth which helps the ingredients to penetrate deeper.

I like to prepare this mask when I have enough time to let it work. You can leave it in your hair from 30 minutes to several hours so let it work it's magic as long as you can.

When I remove it, I like to use a cleansing shampoo just to make sure that the oil was washed out completely. You will be left with smooth, shiny and healthy hair that will grow stronger.

Extra tip for blonde hair. Simply prepare a cup of chamomile tea and let it cool down. Use it as a rinse for your hair after your normal hair care routine. Don't rinse with water and let your hair air-dry, preferably in the sun. After a few rinses with chamomile tea your hair will be shinier and will be naturally lighter.
